Lexington County student shared video threatening shooting at high school, cops say

A high school student was charged after he shared a video online threatening a shooting at his high school, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday.

The Chapin High School student was charged with making threats, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.

He shared the video on the social media platform Snapchat, according to the release.

Information on how the sheriff’s department learned about the video was not available.

There was no word if the student had a gun.

Deputies interviewed the teen at his home Monday night, according to the release.

After being charged, the teen was released to the custody of a family member, the sheriff’s department said.

His identity is not being made public because he is under the age of 18.

Information about any discipline the student faces from his high school, including possible expulsion, was not available.
