Serial flasher arrested after exposing himself to teens at Zaxby’s, records show
The man who recently exposed himself to three teenagers at a Columbia Zaxby’s was arrested, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.
This was not the first time Berrino McClary was arrested for flashing his genitals in public, court records show.
In fact, the 37-year-old pleaded guilty to two separate indecent exposure charges in 2017 and 2018, according to court records.
On the first charge in Lexington County, McClary was convicted and given a three-year suspended prison sentence and was credited with 55 days served, along with three years of probation, court records show.
In Richland County, he was given a three year suspended prison sentence, along with three years of probation, and was not required to register as a sex offender in 2018, according to court records.
Following both of those arrests, McClary was also taken into custody for indecent exposure in September 2017, Lexington County court records show. That third charge was disposed that November, and information why was not available.
The most recent incident where McClary showed his nude body in public occurred Feb. 10, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.
It was about 9:30 p.m. when McClary entered the Zaxby’s at 101 Clemson Road and sat down across from three high school students without ordering anything to eat, the sheriff’s department said.
One teen said McClary was staring at the group before he exposed himself, according to the release.
When the teen called law enforcement McClary ran out of the restaurant, the sheriff’s department said. Shortly after the incident, the sheriff’s department asked for the public’s help in identifying the flasher.
On March 10, a month after the incident, McClary was arrested in Florence County after being identified by multiple tips, according to the release.
McClary was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Richland County, where he was charged with indecent exposure and a probation violation, the sheriff’s department said.
His bond was set at $5,000, but McClary remains behind bars, jail records show.
There was no word if the latest charge would affect his previous convictions.
The maximum penalty for an indecent exposure charge in South Carolina is a three-year prison sentence, according to state law.
