UPDATE: Man with dementia found after going missing in Lexington County

The search for a missing man who suffers from dementia ended when he was found, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday.

Bartow Jeffcoat was tired but doing well, pending further medical evaluation, the sheriff’s department said on Twitter.

Jeffcoat disappeared Monday night, the sheriff’s department said.

The 73-year-old left his Huckabee Mill Road home in Swansea for a walk and never returned, according to the tweet. Jeffcoat was reported missing by his son, it said in the tweet.

After he was reported missing, law enforcement used police dogs and a helicopter in the overnight search for Jeffcoat.
