SC prison officer accused of sharing nude photographs, food with inmate

An officer at a South Carolina prison is accused of sharing nude photographs and contraband food items with an inmate.

Kashaila Danei Hawthorne, 28, has been fired from her job at Perry Correctional Institution in Pelzer, according to a news release Friday from the S.C. Department of Corrections. She was arrested and charged with providing contraband to a prisoner and misconduct in office.

According to the corrections department, Hawthorne is accused of providing nude photographs to an inmate on a cell phone and giving him prohibited food items. Hawthorne, a resident of Honea Path, was fired after her arrest.
