Man charged with murder in connection with weekend shooting in north Columbia

A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting in north Columbia over the weekend.

Delrico Edmonds was taken into custody around 11 p.m. Sunday, just over 24 hours after an argument turned to deadly gunfire on Fern Avenue near Hyatt Park.

Columbia police say an argument between acquaintances escalated to shooting around 9 p.m. Friday in the 3700 block of Fern Avenue. One person, 38-year-old Jamie Wooden, was killed, according to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts.

Edmonds was located at a Lexington County home on Sunday night. He is charged with murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
