West Columbia man charged with murder after weekend stabbing, police say

One man is dead and another is behind bars after being charged with murder following a stabbing, the West Columbia Police Department said Monday.

Steven Allen Stelloh died at an area hospital Sunday, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said in a news release.

The 38-year-old West Columbia resident was stabbed in the upper body shortly before 2 a.m., according to Fisher.

Later that day, Randy Eugene Self was arrested after the stabbing that happened at a home in the 800 block of Central Drive, police said. That’s just off of Sunset Boulevard, and less than two miles from the Gervais Street bridge.

The 64-year-old also lives in West Columbia, and was booked at the Lexington County Detention Center on the murder charge, according to police.

As of 11 a.m., no bond was set for Self, jail records show.

Information on a motive for the stabbing was not available, but the death is still being investigated by police.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 803-794-0721, or report it to CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC or submit an online tip.
