Midlands police searching for two robbers in Waffle House shooting

At least one person was shot after an attempted robbery in the parking lot of a Lugoff Waffle House, according to police.

The shooting happened Wednesday about 8 p.m. at the Waffle House on Highway 601 off Interstate 20 about 30 miles outside Columbia.

The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office said two men attempted to rob at least one victim before shooting the victim and driving away. The victim was taken to the hospital. The sheriff’s office did not give the status of the victim.

Kershaw deputies are searching for the two men involved in the shooting. At least one of the men shot the victim, according to the deputies. Deputies described the robbers as two black men driving a blue Chevrolet Caprice.

After the shooting, witnesses told police the robbers drove away toward Elgin.
