1 dead, 2 injured in Columbia shooting overnight

COLUMBIA, SC

Columbia police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened overnight, leaving one man dead and two others injured.

The shooting happened around 2 a.m. Friday at an apartment building on Byron Road, police said. The apartments are just a block from the W.J.B. Dorn VA hospital and Meadowfield Elementary School.

Police were still interviewing residents and collecting evidence Friday morning. The victim’s identity has not yet been released and the details of the shooting are unconfirmed.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Midlands Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC (274-6372).
