Man dead, child injured after shooting at Lexington County party

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is asking for help identifying a shooter who killed a man and injured a small child in a shooting Thursday night.

Trayon Devon Newhouse, 28, was shot and killed during a gathering outside a home on the 200 block of Minolta Drive off Charleston Highway south of Dixiana, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher.

A child, identified in a press release as a toddler, was also shot and injured in the lower body. The sheriff’s department said the injury is not considered life-threatening.

A second individual was also arrested Thursday for a separate shooting on Minolta Drive shortly after the first shooting.

Taiquon Javante Williams, 23, fired a rifle multiple times toward a house in the 200 block of Nikon Circle, a side street near the location of the first shooting, sheriff’s deputies said. He is facing charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

It’s not immediately clear if the two shootings are related.
