Columbia teen and 20-year-old killed in shooting, another person hurt, coroner says

Two young people are dead and another hospitalized after gunfire broke out at a party early Sunday morning, officials said.

A teenager and a 20-year-old, both from Columbia, were killed, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said in a news release.

At about 2 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call about shots fired, the Cayce Department of Public Safety said on Twitter.

They found three people shot on Allen Street, close to New Life Baptist Church and near the intersection of 12th and Frink streets.

Isiah Bailey, 20, died at the scene after being shot multiple times, Fisher said.

Khajari Brown, 19, was shot in the upper body and died at a hospital, she said.

The injuries to the third person, whose name was not released, were not considered life threatening, the coroner’s office said. City of Cayce spokeswoman Ashley Hunter told The State the person was in critical condition.

Hunter said gunfire was exchanged between those shot and the suspects.

A search for the suspects is underway and there is no ongoing threat to the public, she said.

Investigators are still conducting interviews, and no one has been uncooperative, Hunter said.

DPS is asking anyone with information to call 803-794-0456, or report it to CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC or submit an online tip.
