Woman is questioned after man killed in overnight shooting, Columbia police say

A woman is being questioned after a man was killed overnight in a shooting, the Columbia Police Department said Thursday.

The gunfire was reported at about 1 a.m., police said in a news release.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of Bonner Avenue where they found a man outside, according to the release. That’s near the intersection of North Beltline Boulevard and Two Notch Road in Richland County.

The man died at an area hospital, police said.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Tivo Lee, according to police. The 45-year-old died from a gunshot wound to the upper body, police said.

No other injuries were reported.

Information on a shooter, or shooters, was not available, and there was no word on a motive for the gunfire.

Other than reporting a woman being detained for questioning, police have not immediately answered messages asking about any arrests, or if there is an ongoing threat to the public.

Information about the woman, including her name, was not available.

On Sunday, 30-year-old Shaun Michael Green was fatally shot about a quarter mile away on Dubard Street before being found in the 3400 block of North Beltline Boulevard, police said.

In that shooting, which police have not indicated is related to Lee’s death, Jamaar Brown was charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, possession of a firearm by person convicted of a crime of violence, and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.
