Search for attacker after woman found severely beaten in Midlands motel, cops say

A search is underway after a woman was found in Midlands motel room Tuesday following a brutal attack.

The woman, who has not been publicly identified, was unconscious when she was taken to an area hospital by EMS, the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office said.

She had been severely assaulted when the woman was discovered by staff at the Travel Inn in Lugoff, according to the sheriff’s office. The motel is in a densely packed area on Main Street that’s filled with businesses, restaurants, and car dealerships.

Further information on her condition was not made available by the sheriff’s office.

There is no word on what happened, who else was involved, or if the attack occurred in the motel room.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is assisting in the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 803-425-1512, or CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC or submit an online tip.
