Well-known N. Main Street handyman killed, suspect sought
Richland County authorities are looking for the man who fatally shot a man who was doing repair work on the suspect’s vehicle.
“The victim in this case was well known in the North Main street area and was always willing to help others in the community no matter the situation, especially with mechanical problems,” Sheriff Leon Lott said in a news release.
The shooting occurred around 7:10pm Friday in front of 925 Fisk Street, off North Main Street.
The suspect and the victim began arguing over the quality of the work when the suspect arrived to pick up his car, Lott said.
The suspect allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot the victim several times in the upper body . The victim died at a local hospital, Sgt. Kevin Lawrence said late Friday night.
Authorities are looking for the unnamed suspect who was last seen driving a late model Cadillac sedan.
