Cayce police, DHEC investigating assisted living facility after man’s death
Investigators are looking into an assisted living facility after police were called Friday about a man’s death and found the conditions inside concerning, the Cayce Police Department said in a new release.
A man living in Twilite Manor at 2306 Forrest St. was unresponsive Friday morning, and Cayce officers were called in, the department said. The man was declared dead at Twilite Manor.
The department is investigating the death and “working to determine exactly what happened at the facility.”
“Cayce Officers were concerned over the living conditions they observed,” the department said.
The news release did not provide details about the conditions.
The State called Twilite Manor on Friday but no one answered.
Officers called in the state Department of Health and Environmental Control, which regulates assisted living facilities, the Department of Social Services and the families of people living at the facility to find new housing.
The department said authorities are finding “safe placement elsewhere” for 14 people who lived at Twilite Manor.
Cayce police asked the families of people living at Twilite Manor to call investigators at 803-794-0456.
