Two Columbia firefighters suspended

Two Columbia firefighters have been suspended following their arrests in separate unrelated incidents, Columbia Fire chief Aubrey Jenkins said in a news release.

Firefighter Jimmy C. Barker, III, was charged with driving under the influence on June 25 in Hinesville, Georgia. Barker has been with the department since December 2013.

Senior firefighter Arnold D. Burrows, Jr., was charged on Tuesday June 30, with criminal domestic violence by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department. Burrows has been with the Columbia Fire Department since October 2013.
