An Upstate deputy solicitor is under investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division in a case involving shots fired in a rural, but residential, area of Long Creek in far western South Carolina.

Renée Wunderlich, spokesperson for SLED, said the incident in Oconee County involved Deputy Solicitor Jason Alderman of the 10th Circuit, which covers Anderson and Oconee counties.

Master Deputy Jimmy Watt of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw requested SLED investigate the case.

Records show a man called 911 shortly before 11 p.m. on Monday after shots were fired on Damascus Church Road in Long Creek.

Watt said no one was injured.

Alderman was admitted to practice law in South Carolina in 2012 and was named deputy solicitor last June.

Lauren Price, spokesperson for the 10th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, said she could not comment on the case.
