West Columbia charge 2 with armed robbery, kidnapping
West Columbia police have charged two men in connection with an armed robbery.
Stanley Russ Carter, 53, of West Columbia and Joseph Charles Tice, 50, of Columbia have both been charged with two counts of first degree kidnapping and assault and battery, and one count of armed robbery, grand larceny, criminal conspiracy and financial transaction card theft, according to department spokesman Captain Seth Zeigler.
Carter and Tice demanded money from Carter’s parents while armed with a hammer around 10:50 a.m. Monday, Zeigler said. After a man was tied up, Carter forced his mother to drive to the bank and withdraw $3,000.
Carter and Tice were arrested Tuesday and both are being held the Lexington County Detention Center.
