Sumter woman charged with stealing over $20,000 from local business
Sumter County sheriff’s deputies charged a Sumter woman Thursday with breach of trust after she allegedly stole thousands of dollars from a local business, according to officials.
Braden Bunch, a sheriff’s off spokesman, said 47-year-old Samantha Higgins has been charged with breach of trust after stealing over $20,000 from a business in the 2600 block of Warehouse Boulevard in Sumter.
Bunch said Higgins was writing checks to herself from the business’ accounts, which she was trusted with. Higgins had allegedly been stealing from the business from Feb. 1, 2015 to as recent as June 23.
