Man brought stolen gun to high school campus, Richland County deputies say

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man allegedly carrying a stolen gun on the campus of Dutch Fork High School Friday.

The department charged 20-year-old Tyshawn Isaiah Lightbourne of Irmo with unlawfully carrying a gun, possession of a stolen weapon and carrying a weapon on school grounds. Deputies jailed him at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

“Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident,” the department said. “No threats were made to students or staff.”

An administrator saw a woman and a man, who was later identified as Lightbourne, in the school’s parking lot that afternoon and informed the school resource officer, deputies said.

The deputy found Lightbourne with two guns, the department reported. The woman was put on trespass notice and released.

Lightbourne was still jailed Saturday morning, awaiting a bond hearing.

Possession of a stolen gun is a felony punishable with up to five years in prison.
