Columbia man killed in shooting at Richland County hotel identified by coroner

A man was killed in an overnight shooting at a Columbia hotel, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said Sunday.

Deddrick D. Pogue, a 28-year-old Columbia resident, is the man who died, Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford said Monday.

The shooting happened at the InTown Suites at 8310 Two Notch Road, the sheriff’s department said in a news release. That’s in an area densely packed with restaurants and retail businesses near Exit 17 on Interstate 77.

When they arrived, deputies found the body of a man who had been shot in the upper body, the sheriff’s department said. Pogue died in one of the hotel rooms, according to the release.

No other injuries were reported.

No arrests have been reported by the sheriff’s department, which continues to investigate the shooting.
