One man killed, another hurt in home invasion in Lexington neighborhood, police say
An investigation is underway following a death, the Lexington Police Department said Tuesday morning.
One man was killed and another was hurt in a shooting that occurred during a home invasion, according to police.
The shooting happened in the 100 block of Wigeon Drive in the Mallard Lakes neighborhood, according to police. That’s between North Lake Drive and Main Street.
At about 5 a.m., officers responded to reports of an unwanted guest and home invasion at the residence.
When officers arrived they found one man who had been killed in a shooting and another man who had been injured, police said.
The injured man was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
A woman and several children who were in the home at the time of the shooting were not harmed, police said.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office is also investigating the death, but has not publicly identified the man who died.
Officers and members of the coroner’s office are on the scene, and expect to be there for several hours, police said.
Police said the death is considered an “isolated incident and the neighborhood is safe.”
There was no word on a motive for the home invasion and shooting.
No arrests have been reported.
