Columbia teen, 14, identified as victim of Friday night shooting

A 14-year-old was identified as the victim of a Friday night shooting not far from Palmetto Health Richland.

Najeer Raborn Buggs, of Carver Street, died in the incident, which happened about 9:15 p.m. in the 4100 block of Grand Street, said Richland County Coroner Gary Watts in a news release.

Buggs died of a gunshot wound to the upper body, Watts said.

Authorities released few details, including whether there are suspects and a possible motive for the shooting.

Columbia police are investigating.
