Update: Package found on Superior Street harmless

Police closed off parts of Superior Street in Rosewood Sunday afternoon to investigate claims of a suspicious package that was found near a church.

Reports of a package near the Columbia World Outreach church building at 523 Superior St. came in about 5 p.m.

Several police cars closed off the area to investigate. Columbia Police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said a package found there did not appear to be hazardous nor harmful. The streets were opened shortly before 6 p.m.
