18-year-old Hopkins resident killed in shooting

An 18-year-old was killed in a shooting Monday.

Shyheem Gallishaw of Green Lake Drive in Hopkins died of a gunshot wound to the upper body, Coroner Gary Watts announced in a news release.

The shooting happened just after midnight near Townsend and Hutchinson streets in Columbia, Watts said.

No other details were available.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
