One dead in an early-morning crash in Aiken County

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision that took place near Beech Island early Saturday morning.

The driver of a pickup truck died at the scene of the Aiken County crash, according to a statement released by the Highway Patrol.

The driver was traveling east on highway SC-28 a little after midnight when the car exited the roadway to the right, said Highway Patrol Master Trooper David Jones. The 1995 Dodge Dakota truck struck a guardrail and overturned.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, Jones said.

No other vehicles were involved, according to the Highway Patrol.
