Richland County coroner identifies early morning shooting victim

The Richland County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim who was shot and killed early Wednesday morning near a gas station.

Gary Watts said 23-year-old Brandon Samuel Brown, of Columbia, was pronounced dead at a local hospital from complications of a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Richland County Sheriff’s Deparment spokesman Sgt. Kevin Lawrence said deputies responded to the 1700 block of Decker Boulevard near Percival Road in reference to a shots-fired call. When deputies arrived they located the victim who had sustained injuries in the shooting.

Richland County investigators are continuing to search for the suspect involved in the case.
