One man killed and another injured in shooting at Columbia apartment, deputies say
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a shooting that killed one man and injured another over the weekend.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Sean M. Hakeem Jr. of Greenville, SC.
At about 3 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Killian Lakes Drive, the sheriff’s department said in a news release. That’s in Columbia, about a block from the intersection of Farrow Road and Longtown Road.
Deputies found Hakeem, 21, in the parking lot. He was shot in the upper body and died at the scene, the sheriff’s department said.
The deputies found another individual in the same area who was shot in the lower body, and he was taken to an area hospital, according to the release.
Further information on the surviving victim’s condition was not available.
No other injuries were reported.
Information about a shooter, or shooters, or any motive for the gunfire was not available.
There was no word if the men were shot by the same gunman, or if they were shooting at each other.
The sheriff’s department said it believes the shooting was an isolated incident.
No arrests have been reported by the sheriff’s department, which is continuing to investigate the homicide.

There was another deadly shooting in Columbia days earlier. A woman was killed Friday night at an apartment complex in the 3400 block of Kay Street, the sheriff’s department said.
No arrests have been reported in that shooting.
