Man killed in overnight shooting at apartment complex, Columbia police say

A man was killed overnight in a shooting, the Columbia Police Department said Sunday.

The shooting happened shortly before midnight at the Spring Lake Apartments complex at 7645 Garners Ferry Road, according to police. That’s near Exit 9 on Interstate 77 in an area densely packed with retail businesses and restaurants.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office has not publicly identified the victim.

No other injuries were reported.

Information about a shooter, or shooters, or any motive for the gunfire was not available.

No arrests have been reported by police, who are continuing to investigate the shooting.
