Domestic violence shooting led to barricade in Lexington County. Female victim is safe
The West Columbia Police Department closed off a Lexington County road for several hours after a domestic violence-related shooting led to a barricaded person Tuesday morning.
A female victim was found and safely removed from the home, the department said. By early afternoon, officers entered the home and secured the area, the police department reported.
The 300 block of Westgate Drive was closed, police said. That’s near U.S. 1/Augusta Road, about a mile from Exit 111 on Interstate 26.
“This is an isolated incident and there is no cause for concern for the surrounding residents,” police said.
At about 12:45 p.m., the Lexington County Coroner’s Office had responded to the scene.
