Man identified in Aiken County shooting death, coroner’s office says

A man found dead Wednesday night has been identified by the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.

The man was 23-year-old Kevon D. Carlisle from Augusta, Georgia. He will be autopsied in Newberry, South Carolina.

Officers from the North Augusta Department of Public Safety responded to a car found down an embankment near Riverview Park around 11 p.m.

Officers found Carlisle unresponsive and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner’s office. He sustained a gunshot wound to the body.

The coroner’s office and the North Augusta Department of Public Safety are investigating.
