One killed, another hurt after shooting at Burger King parking lot, SC coroner says
A man was killed and another person was hurt Wednesday night in a shooting outside of a Burger King, the Aiken County Coroner’s Office said.
Alan Black Jr., a 31-year-old Aiken resident, died about an hour after the shooting, Coroner Darryl Ables said Thursday in a news release.
The shooting happened at about 8:40 p.m. in the parking lot of the Burger King at 1110 York St., according to the release. That’s near the intersection of U.S. 1 and S.C. 118/Rutland Drive, less than a mile from Aiken High School.
Black and a second person were taken to an area hospital where the 31-year-old died at about 10 p.m., Ables said.
An autopsy will be performed in Newberry, according to the release.
Further information on the surviving man’s condition was not available.
No other injuries were reported.
There was no word on a shooter, or shooters, any motive for the gunfire, or if the victims were connected prior to the shooting.
No arrests have been reported by the Aiken Department of Public Safety, which is investigating the shooting along with the coroner’s office.
