Traffic safety checkpoints planned in Chapin area, Saturday night
The traffic unit of the Richland County Sheriff’s Department is zeroing in on driving behaviors in Chapin this weekend.
Traffic safety check points are planned Saturday evening, July 18, for on and near Mt. Vernon Church Road, which runs by the Spring Hill high school, Sheriff Leon Lott said in a news release.
The check points seek to “change driver’s behavior’s and reduce traffic collisions and fatalities in our communities – making everyone be a defensive driver, to wear their seatbelts and to slow down.,” Lott said.
The site for this Saturday’s enforcement focus was chosen by random and not as the result of any activity planned in the area, department spokesman Curtis Wilson said.
