An inmate at Richland County’s Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center was stabbed Thursday night, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

The 29-year-old man was found with a laceration and knot over his right eye and swelling all over his face around 11 p.m. Thursday, according to a sheriff’s department incident report.

The victim also sustained a 2-inch stab wound on his lower leg, along with multiple other cuts on his right arm and on both hands, according to the report.

The inmate was transported to Prisma Health Richland Hospital for treatment.

“Investigators are working to determine what led up to the fight and identify other detainees involved,” the sheriff’s department said.

Thursday’s incident marks the second stabbing at the detention center in less than three weeks.
