Columbia apartment shooting leaves 1 man dead, Richland County sheriff says

A shooting at a Columbia apartment building near St. Andrews has left one man dead.

Deputies were called to 1800 Longcreek Drive off of Interstate 20 just after 3 p.m. Friday for a report of a shooting, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said. They arrived to find a man lying in the stairwell of an apartment building with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the sheriff’s department.

The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided when they are available, the sheriff’s department said. The Richland County Coroner has not yet released the name of the victim.

The sheriff’s department is asking anyone with information about the shooting to submit a tip to Crime Stoppers at crimesc.com. Tipsters may remain anonymous, the department said.
