Kershaw County woman charged with attempted murder of her husband

A Kershaw County woman is charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting her husband, the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office said.

Carie Lynn Cagle, 24, of Elgin, is being held at the Kershaw County Detention Center on charges of attempted murder, criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, unlawfully placing a child at risk, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The sheriff’s office said it responded to a shooting in the 500 block of Smyrna Road in Elgin Thursday morning on a report of a man shot and an intruder in the house.

The man, whose name was not released, is in critical condition.

Law enforcement said the man’s wife shot him during an argument.

Bond was denied for Cagle, the sheriff’s office said.
