13-year-old missing from Midlands found safe in Greenville County

Oscar Washington Davis was found safely after he was missing from home for more than a day and a half, according to a statement released by the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office.

Davis, 13, went missing from his family’s home off South Carolina Highway 395 in Newberry in the early morning hours of Thursday, July, 20. He was described as having red hair, dressed in shorts and a T-shirt and may have been barefoot when he left home.

Authorities provided no information about why Davis left home or how he traveled to Greenville County, more than 50 miles away.

“The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public for all the calls and assistance with providing information,” the sheriff’s office posted on their Facebook page.

As of Friday afternoon, sheriff’s deputies said that they were making arrangement to return Davis to his family.
