Family fight turns deadly when brother stabs brother, Lexington police say
A family fight turned deadly when a man was stabbed by his brother early Monday morning, the Lexington Police Department said.
At about 3:20 a.m., officers responded to reports of a disturbance in the Victorian Lakes neighborhood at 4801 Sunset Blvd. , police said in a news release. That’s Phase I of the Victorian Lakes Motor Home Park, about 2 miles from Exit 61 on Interstate 20.
When they arrived, officers found the body of a man who had been killed lying in the driveway of a residence, according to the release.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has not publicly identified the victim.
Officers learned that several family members had been involved in a physical fight, and the victim was fatally stabbed by his brother, police said.
No other injuries were reported.
The brother remained at the scene and was taken to the Lexington Police Department for questioning, according to the release. No arrests have been reported by police.
Officers are working to determine what led up to and what happened during the fight, according to the release.
Police said they believe multiple witnesses were at the scene during the fight and left after the stabbing. Police are looking for those witnesses, and anyone who was at the scene, or has information is asked to call police at 803-359-6260 or 803-358-7262, CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC or submit an online tip.
Along with police and the coroner, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating the death.
As the investigation continues, traffic will be affected as police said the road near the crime scene will be closed for several hours. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
