Six students were in police custody following a brawl at a high school on Thursday, authorities say.

Aiken High School went into a soft lock down Thursday afternoon as police responded to the school for a disturbance involving multiple students fighting. A few students sustained minor injuries, and one was transported to hospital for a possible broken arm, according to police. Six students were ultimately arrested and charged with misdemeanor affray.

Although a knife was found near the incident, a subsequent investigation determined it had not been used in the grapple among students, and no injuries were reported from the weapon, according to a news release.

Police also said there were no firearms involved in the disturbance.

No information was available as to what caused the fight.
