A man was shot and an investigation is underway, Richland County deputies say
A man was hospitalized Saturday following a shooting, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
The shooting happened at about 4 p.m. on Upton Court in Columbia, deputies said in a news release. That’s near the intersection of Padgett Road and Leesburg Road.
The victim was taken to an area hospital, according to the release. Further information on his condition was not available.
No other injuries were reported.
There was no word on a shooter, or shooters, or anyone else involved. Information about a motive for the shooting was not available.
No arrests have been reported by the sheriff’s department, which said it’s continuing to investigate the shooting.
Deputies said they believe the shooting was an “isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.”
