Richland County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man they say was involved in several armed robberies that targeted elderly women throughout the county.

Sheriff Leon Lott said Chadwick Miller, 29, has been charged with armed robbery, two counts of strong armed robbery and four counts of financial transaction.

Lott said Miller and another individual were responsible for targeting elderly women and robbing them, sometimes at gunpoint, of their purses. Within the span of three days beginning on June 28, Miller stole three victims’ purses before fleeing in a white van.

Miller was taken into custody on July 14 during a routine traffic stop in the 7300 block of Parklane Road after a patrol deputy spotted the white van Miller was allegedly using to commit the robberies, Lott said. Miller was taken into custody without incident.

Additional arrests could be forthcoming as the investigation continues.

Anyone with information regarding the robberies is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1 (888)-CRIME-SC.
