Four people, including a minor, arrested on attempted murder charges, SC police say

Days after a home in Lexington County was hit by gunfire, four people — including a minor — were arrested, according to the West Columbia Police Department.

Two Columbia men, a woman from Orangeburg and the juvenile — who is not being publicly identified because of their age — were each charged with several crimes, including multiple counts of attempted murder, police said in a news release.

Charged with attempted murder were Columbia residents Michael Jackson, 21, and Jamarion Gladden, 18, Orangeburg resident Aliyah Sims, 34, and the minor. They also were charged with discharging a firearm into a dwelling and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, according to the release.

Bond was denied for Jackson, who is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center, jail records show. Neither Gladden nor Sims is currently listed on the jail’s inmate roster.

There was no word if the minor is currently in the custody of a South Carolina law enforcement agency.

The four were arrested on Nov. 30, five days after the shooting, police said. Members of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Marshals Service assisted in making the arrests.

On Nov. 25, a home in the 600 block of Lown Street was hit by gunfire, according to the release. That’s in the area between Sunset Boulevard and Jarvis Klapman Boulevard.

Information about a motive for the shooting, or if it was a drive-by shooting, was not available.

No injuries were reported.
