Two people, including a 16-year-old, killed in Richland County shooting

A teenager and an adult were shot to death on Thursday night just outside Columbia, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said Friday.

The 16-year-old and a 36-year-old adult were pronounced dead at the scene, and a 14-year-old was transported to a local hospital after being shot

The deceased adult was identified as Marvin D. Archie, and the deceased teen as Jayden Scales-Amiker, by the Richland County coroner’s office.

The circumstances of the shootings were not available. .

“This is still an ongoing investigation and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department will continue to update as more information becomes available,” said a press release by Master Deputy Allie Salrin.

Salarin said deputies responded around 7 p.m. Thursday to the 100 block of Angel Garden Way to a call of shots being fired. When they arrived, deputies found people with gunshot wounds.

The area is a housing community behind a complex that includes Richland County Central Court on Decker Boulevard and less than a half mile from Richland Northeast High School.

“This is still a very active scene and investigation. Right now, it is believed to be an isolated incident,” Salrin said in a press release.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to please submit a tip, anonymously, through Crime Stoppers.
