Sumter County deputies charged man accused of hitting child in the face
Sumter County sheriff’s deputies have charged a Sumter man with cruelty to children after he allegedly hit a 12-year-old boy in the face before throwing him to the ground.
Braden Bunch, a sheriff’s office spokesman, said 32-year-old Marcus Rush was taken into custody Monday after a warrant for his arrest was issued on June 26.
Bunch said Rush allegedly struck the 12-year-old in the face and threw him to the ground in the 40 block of Murphy Street in Sumter on June 13.
Rush was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
