Body found in woods identified. Lexington resident had been missing since last month

The Lexington County Coroner’s office has identified a missing person found dead in the woods Thursday.

Joseph Matthew Kosmos, 37, of Lexington, had been reported as missing in May. His body was discovered by a 911 caller in the Roundtree Court area near Gaston. The coroner’s office identified the body Friday and scheduled an autopsy next week.

The coroner’s office and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department are investigating.

No further information was immediately available, but the coroner’s office offered condolences to the family and friends of Kosmos.
