A suspect has been charged in the death of a woman who was found dead inside her home, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

Jerrod Graham, 35, was arrested and charged with murder and death/injury to a child in utero during a violent crime, the sheriff’s department said.

A woman, identified as Chandreka D. Graham, 31, was discovered dead on Wednesday morning at a home on Northfield Court in northeast Richland County, which is near the intersections of Longtown and Clemson roads.

Deputies were making a check at a home around 11 a.m. when they saw Chandreka Graham unresponsive inside. They forced entry into the home and found the woman with “significant trauma to her head,’’ the sheriff’s department said. Emergency services pronounced her dead.

Officials said on Wednesday that they could not confirm what caused the head injuries.

On Thursday, Jerrod Graham was released from a “secure facility” and taken into custody by sheriff’s department investigators and transported to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

According to the sheriff’s department, there is still an ongoing investigation.
