Two people in car shot by gunman in another vehicle, Richland County deputies say
Two people were injured over the weekend in a drive-by shooting, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
At about 11 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to a hospital in South Carolina where two shooting victims were being treated, the sheriff’s department said Monday in a news release.
Information on the victims’ conditions was not available.
The victims said the shooting happened after they had left a party in the area near the intersection of Briercliff Drive and Hardscrabble Road, according to the release. That’s in the Columbia area, between Interstate 77 and Farrow Road.
The victims told deputies that they were in a vehicle driving on S.C. 277 when they were shot at by individuals in another car, according to the release. The sheriff’s department said it has not been able to confirm the exact location of the shooting.
No other injuries were reported.
There was no word about a shooter or shooters, or anyone else involved in the gunfire. Information about a motive for the shooting was not available.
No arrests have been reported, and the shooting continues to be investigated by the sheriff’s department.
