911 outages reported in multiple Midlands counties
Multiple emergency agencies in South Carolina reported that not all 911 calls are going through as they should Tuesday.
In the Midlands, officials in Kershaw County and Lee County said issues have caused some outages for 911 callers.
“Our Kershaw County 911 Dispatch is currently facing temporary difficulties with certain mobile network providers connecting to 911 services,” Kershaw County government officials said in a Facebook post, that was shared by the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office.
Lee County Fire-Rescue reported similar issues, saying it’s “experiencing intermittent outage of our 911 lines,” according to county Emergency Services Director Tim DuBose.
DuBose said that anyone who does not have a 911 call answered should instead call either 803-459-7934 or 803-459-7928 to ask for help or report an emergency.
Kershaw County also provided multiple numbers for those unable to connect to 911. The phone numbers are 803-572-2492, 803-572-2490, 803-572-2491, 803-572-2493, or 803-572-2494.
Officials in both counties said they are working to resolve the problem and would report when 911 is working again. There was no word when that might happen.
