SC deputy arrested for driving under the influence, sheriff says. He lost his job
A South Carolina deputy was arrested for driving under the influence.
Michael Kennedy, 34, was arrested by the West Columbia Police Department on Thursday, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department announced.
Kennedy, who began working for the sheriff’s department in August 2023, was immediately suspended without pay, and is now no longer employed, the sheriff’s department said.
“We are all responsible for the decisions we make, and therefore the consequences that come from those decisions,” Sheriff Leon Lott said in a news release. “My deputies know if they violate the law they will be held accountable.”
