Sumter County sheriff’s deputies have charged one and are looking for two more people in connection with a strong-armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver Monday night.

Braden Bunch, a sheriff’s office spokesman, said 18-year-old Maleeke Antoine Myers has been charged with strong arm robbery and criminal conspiracy. Two other men believed to have also been involved are still at large but are described as black males in their late teens to early 20’s remain at large.

Bunch said deputies first received reports of a delivery driver being robbed in the 200 block of Gibbons Street in Sumter shortly after 11 p.m. Monday. When deputies arrived they were informed a 31-year-old man had allegedly been assaulted by three other men during a delivery to what appeared to be a vacant house. The suspects allegedly stole a wallet, pizza and a cell phone from the victim.

Sumter County K-9 teams were called to the scene and were able to track Myers to his nearby home in the 100 block of Independence Avenue, which is one street away from where the robbery took place, Bunch said.

Myers is being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 436-2000, or Crime Stoppers at (803) 436-2718.
