SC couple was pulled over and faces charges more severe than a traffic violation, cops say

A South Carolina couple was arrested on multiple charges following a traffic stop Monday, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Sumter residents Christopher Saxby, 46, and Candice Saxby, 36, were charged with several drug crimes after being pulled over, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday in a news release.

A deputy saw a vehicle driven by Christopher Saxby on U.S. 15 South that had a license plate which belonged to another vehicle, according to the release.

The deputy pulled over the vehicle and during a probable cause search found methamphetamine, fentanyl, and pills that are Schedule I and II narcotics, the sheriff’s office said.

Both Christopher and Candice Saxby were taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and are being held awaiting a bond hearing, according to the release.

Christopher Saxby was charged with possession with intent to distribute meth, possession of fentanyl, possession of Schedule I and II narcotics, driving under suspension, improper vehicle license and uninsured motor vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

Candice Saxby also was charged with possession of fentanyl, possession of Schedule I and II narcotics, possession with intent to distribute meth and an additional count of manufacture of meth (second offense), according to the release.
